Suzie's Summer Vacation in California!

June, 2002

We went to visit family and friends in Cupertino.

The trip started as it seems they all must -- strapped to a seat.
We got to hang out in the pool the next day. Kyle watches us to make sure that Mommy holds on tight.
I wish they didn't make me clean the pool, though!
A mellow morning with Stella, Grandma Shirley and Cousin Kyle.
I think Aunt DeeDee likes me!
This is a fun room to dance around in!
The next day, I rode a little train with cousin Kyle. Aunt DeeDee asked whether we could sit up front with the engineer, and they said "yes"!
Then, Daddy and I rode the carousel
Stella was busy walking with DeeDee when we took this picture.
Grandma Shirley tries to get me to hold still so she can put in my pigtails. Not as easy as it looks, huh Grandma?
On Wednesday, I went to the Monterey Bay Aquarium with...well, just about EVERYBODY. Here I am with Bobby and Cousin Kyle. That's Gen in the background. She's married to DeeDee's dad, but she's not DeeDee's mom. Got it?
Here I am with cousin Kyle and Clint. Clint is married to DeeDee's mom, but he's not DeeDee's dad. Is it getting clearer now? How about if I told you...well, never mind.
There were lots of fishes, but people kept taking pictures of me! Hi!
Grandma Shirley explains something in the "touch tank" to me.
Next day, Grandpa Dick surprised me with a couple mementos of the Aquarium visit: a stuffed whale & a stuffed penguin. New bedmates!
We went to Happy Hollow that afternoon. They had a zoo, with a couple places where kids could get a closer look at the animals. Too small -- no adults allowed!
Daddy carries this around all the time. I thought I'd try to see what the appeal is. It was fun for a short while, but it's not really for me.

"strapped to a seat."
the end.
But seriously, we're on our way to the tidepools.
Grandpa Dick showed me lots of stuff. Kelp feels funny!
Daddy's proud of saying that he took over 800 pictures this week. Is that something he should be proud of?
I got a souvenir of my beach trip, but mommy made me leave it behind.
Clint was giving everyone rides on his Kit Fox airplane. I wasn't going to miss out on a chance like that!
Ready for takeoff!
...and back on the ground, I give the universal "everything's okay!" sign.
DeeDee's happy to see me back on the ground again.
Wow! That was a big day.
The week seemed to go by so quickly. Suddenly it was time to leave. But I had a great time! I can't wait for next summer!
